Beijing Responds to Washington's Arms Sales to Taiwan
The Chinese authorities have imposed retaliatory restrictive measures on 20 companies in the U.S. defense industrial sector due to arms sales to Taiwan. This was announced by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier, the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency reported that the total value of weapons, military equipment, and services approved for sale to Taiwan by the U.S. exceeds $11 billion. The transactions include Javelin anti-tank systems, ALTIUS-700M and ALTIUS-600 drones, spare parts for AH-1W SuperCobra helicopters, HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, M107A7 self-propelled howitzers, and TOW anti-tank missile systems.
The statement from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the large-scale arms supply by the U.S. to Taiwan violates the 'One China' principle and the three joint communiqués between China and the U.S. Beijing views these actions as interference in its internal affairs and harmful to China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
