What Criteria Does the Armenian Government Use to Brand Opposition Figures as 'Agents of Russian Influence'? - Zakharova
It is unclear what criteria the Armenian government uses to label opposition figures as 'agents of Russian influence'. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Zakharova responded to a journalist's inquiry regarding Moscow's stance, considering that the persecution of opposition figures and clergy in Armenia is accompanied by accusations of ties to Russia and Russian intelligence services.
“I have a question. What criteria are they using for identification? If these individuals are advocating for the development of bilateral relations, then Pashinyan is also talking about improving relations with Russia. But if they are simply seeking revenge against opposition representatives under the guise of Russia, then that is not a friendly approach,” she said.
