Alkhas Ghazaryan on Hayk Sargsyan's Exclusion from the Electoral List
The Deputy of the NA from the My Step Alliance, Alkhas Ghazaryan, stated in an interview with NEWS.am that the process of including candidates in the electoral list of the alliance is still ongoing and not yet finalized. According to him, there is no issue of removing anyone from the list, and this process gives the party members a chance to hear the opinions and goals of those who have applied to become candidates, as well as potential projects.
Ghazaryan mentioned that this approach is a good practice and will continue to be followed in the future, emphasizing that these are upcoming elections. The procedure for forming lists is more democratic, as the final list will also be shaped through elections.
Regarding the exclusion of My Step Alliance MP Hayk Sargsyan from the list, who announced his intention to contest the decision of the party's board, Ghazaryan stated that every issue is discussed within the party, and the charter provides the opportunity to file a complaint. He noted that if party members have something to say, they will be heard, and there is no issue of excluding any colleagues; the conversation is only about inclusion in the parliamentary list.
While discussing the fact that some assistants of MPs have submitted applications to be included in the My Step Alliance list, Ghazaryan indicated that individuals from various fields can be nominated, and the Constitution does not impose restrictions. He believes that assistants have a good understanding of the activities of a parliamentarian and may be well-prepared for the position.
When asked whether the government is unwilling to retreat from its position against the church, Ghazaryan noted that the opposition presents this as a struggle between authorities and the church. However, according to him, the issue pertains to certain clerics and the fight for the church, with no intent to generate political movement.
As for the presence and behavior of community leaders in the yard of the Mother Cathedral, Ghazaryan remarked that it was a spontaneous gathering, and the My Step Alliance did not instruct anyone. He stated that people responded to various calls and that the law enforcement agencies are monitoring the processes and should make conclusions if necessary.
