Russia's Foreign Ministry Issues Statement
Russia and the United States continue to engage in dialogue aimed at resolving a number of issues that have emerged in recent years. This was announced to the Izvestia newspaper by Alexander Gusakov, head of the North Atlantic Division of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to him, the starting point for this process was the understanding reached during a phone conversation between the Presidents of Russia and the USA on February 12 regarding the need for a comprehensive restoration of Russian-American relations.
Gusakov also noted that an important, though not the only, component of this work is the regulation of working conditions for the diplomatic representations of the Russian Federation and the United States.
He added that the restoration of air communication between Russia and the United States has long been anticipated.
