Lukashenko Inquired with US Envoy about Weight Loss

A high-level meeting held in Minsk, attended by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and U.S. Special Envoy John Cole, revealed intriguing details about both international humanitarian transactions and the personal interests of the parties involved. Although the official and primary objective of the meeting focused on negotiations for the release of prisoners, the discussions took an unexpected turn.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the parties managed to reach significant agreements regarding humanitarian issues, which later facilitated the unconditional pardon and release of politically motivated detainees, including German national Rico Krieger, who had been sentenced to death.

Against the backdrop of this complex and tense diplomatic process, an incident occurred that garnered substantial media attention. During the negotiations, Lukashenko, noticing the considerable weight loss of his American guest, inquired about the cause. It turned out that Cole had utilized a cutting-edge American medication, known as a 'miracle cure' for obesity. The Belarusian leader was so impressed by the results that he personally requested to familiarize himself with the drug's characteristics and shortly thereafter instructed local scientists to develop a Belarusian analogue.
