Father Vrtanes Undergoes Surgery Again, Three More Stents Placed in Heart

Father Vrtanes Khahana Baghalyan, the spiritual leader of the Church of St. John in Byurakan, underwent surgery again yesterday, during which three additional stents were placed in his heart. This was reported to NEWS.am by Father Aristakes Khahana Baghalyan, the brother of Father Vrtanes.

“Initially, two stents were placed, and then after 72 hours, when the dangerous period had passed, three more stents were inserted. At this moment, his health condition is normal,” said Father Aristakes.

It is worth recalling that on December 18, bishops demanding the resignation of the Catholicos visited the Mother See to deliver a letter. A communal prayer was also scheduled at the Mother See at the same time, which the faithful attended to show support for Garegin II. It was during this time that Father Vrtanes Khahana Baghalyan's condition deteriorated. After providing first aid at the scene, emergency workers transported Father Vrtanes to the hospital. It was determined there that a myocardial infarction had occurred.
