David Babayan Delivers Final Speech in Baku Court; Prosecutor Demands Life Imprisonment
The military court in Baku continues the latest hearing of the fabricated cases against the leaders of Artsakh, focusing on the final speeches of Armenian captives. According to Azerbaijani media, David Babayan and Levon Mnatsakanyan presented their closing arguments in court.
It was noted that they provided counterarguments to the statements made by the prosecution. The prosecutor has demanded life imprisonment for them.
In Azerbaijan, the criminal proceedings against Karen Avanesyan, accused of terrorism and other especially grave crimes in Stepanakert, have taken place. As reported by APA, the session was presided over by Judge Ilkin Ibishov of the Ganja Serious Crimes Court. Avanesyan testified during the session, followed by the testimonies of witnesses in the criminal case.
Subsequently, the state prosecutor delivered a statement, requesting an 18-year sentence for Karen Avanesyan. The trial will resume on December 25.
It is recalled that, according to Azerbaijan's Ministry of Internal Affairs, Avanesyan was arrested by police while allegedly attempting to approach a venue in Stepanakert with a submachine gun. It is mentioned that Avanesyan showed armed resistance at the time of arrest, resulting in him being wounded by gunfire and subsequently taken into custody.
It is significant to note that the fabricated trial against the former leaders of Artsakh has entered the phase of final speeches.
