Brawl in the Turkish Parliament
The discussion of the 2026 state budget in the Turkish Grand National Assembly turned into a brawl. The incident occurred between members of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), according to local media reports.
The debate escalated into a physical confrontation during a tense discussion on budgetary issues. Official details regarding the members of parliament involved in the incident have not been released.
Despite the altercation, the parliament continued its work, and as a result of a vote, the 2026 budget was approved. It received 320 votes in favor and 249 against.
It is noted that discussions on the budget in Turkey's legislative body are traditionally accompanied by sharp political debates; however, this time they escalated into a blatant incident.
