Ukrainian Foreign Minister States Conditions for Kyiv to Repay EU Debt

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiha, has stated that key figures in the decision to provide Ukraine with €90 billion in financial support from the European Union include European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

According to Sybiha, the financial package is crucial for maintaining the macro-financial stability of the country and will provide a foundation for ensuring Ukraine's economic stability over the next two years.

The Minister clarified that these are credit funds, the repayment of which is contingent on possible compensations from the Russian Federation. He noted that this alleviates the financial burden for Ukraine.

Additionally, Sybiha emphasized that the loans provided come with favorable terms, which he considers a significant support to Ukraine's financial system amid ongoing challenges.
