Arman Tsarukyan Will Not Get a Title Fight in the Next Year: Gajiyev
The president of Fight Nights, Kamil Gajiyev, expressed his opinion in an interview with "Match TV" that despite Arman Tsarukyan being at the peak of his career, UFC President Dana White will not provide him with an opportunity to fight for a championship belt in the coming year.
Arman Tsarukyan is currently ranked number one in the lightweight category. Recently, he defeated Dan Hooker in Qatar, and on December 17, he won against Mehdi Baydulayev at the ACBJJ 20 tournament under Brazilian jiu-jitsu rules.
“Arman is extremely confident in his abilities now and is annihilating everyone. He is truly in his best physical shape—focused and charged,” said the president of Fight Nights, Kamil Gajiyev.
Gajiyev noted that while the victory was convincing, it should be considered that the opponent agreed to the fight on short notice and was simply fatigued toward the end.
According to Gajiyev, the UFC currently has other plans for lightweight champion Ilia Topuria. “Dana made it clear that this will not happen in the upcoming year. Other names have entered the arena—Pimblett and Gaethje. The winner of their matchup will compete against Topuria. So, Arman will need to wait another year, but there’s nothing terrible in that; patience is required, and one must keep moving forward,” the president of Fight Nights stated.
