This Is Not the Beginning of War, It Is a Declaration of Revenge: US Armed Forces
The US Armed Forces have conducted strikes against targets of the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria in response to an attack last week on a Syrian-American patrol in Palmyra, which resulted in the deaths of three Americans. This was reported by BBC.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated on the X social media platform that the strikes were aimed at “Islamic State fighters, infrastructure, and weapons facilities” as part of the operation titled "Baze's Strike."
"This is not the beginning of war, this is a declaration of revenge. Today we hunted down and killed our enemies. Many of them. And we will continue to do so," Hegseth added.
US President Donald Trump referred to the operation on the TruthSocial network as a "very serious retaliatory strike."
Additionally, Donald Trump hosted Syria's interim president Ahmad al-Shar'aa at the White House. Following the meeting, Syria joined the international coalition of 88 countries fighting against the Islamic State.
