Former NSS Director Mikayel Hambartsumyan Summoned for Questioning
The Investigative Committee of Armenia reports that former director of the National Security Service (NSS) and head of the NSS Investigative Department, Mikayel Hambartsumyan, has been summoned for questioning regarding a criminal case related to the armed group in Norq. Importantly, this is a confrontational questioning.
This was reported by the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd.' According to the information from the investigative body, pressure was allegedly exerted on certain members of the armed group in Norq during 2015-2016, resulting in testimonies that incriminated the group.
Since Mikayel Hambartsumyan was the head of the NSS Investigative Department at that time, he has been called in for questioning. The newspaper also reached out to Hambartsumyan for comments regarding the information, but he merely noted that he is glad there are still honest people who do not resort to defamation or lies for personal or other interests.
From this response, we can conclude that the information is indeed accurate, and a confrontational questioning took place, during which testimonies denying any wrongdoing by Mikayel Hambartsumyan were provided, which he attributes to the integrity of those individuals.
