Supporters of 'Our Father' Gather to Condemn Non-Aligned Bishops, Yeghoyan Says

Insufficient was Bagrat Galstanyan’s adventurous antics, the damage brought upon the state and the church by this agent of influence, and now Ktrich has turned the territory of the Mother See into a stage for political struggle. This was stated by Arman Yeghoyan, a member of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction in the National Assembly of Armenia.

“Two political forces that were rejected in two consecutive elections, who have been saying from morning till evening that politicians should not interfere in church affairs, today went to the Mother See to intervene in the discussion of two groups of bishops. Has anyone heard or seen a call from the Prime Minister or any governmental body or force for gathering in the yard of the Mother See today? No, there was no such thing, and why should there be? The 10 bishops did not need a procession to deliver their petition. But Ktrich needs a procession so that he does not have to look for ‘where is the people’ like at an airport,” Yeghoyan noted.

“The supporters of 'Our Father', who have not yet learned to kiss the cross in front of the camera, and those who divide the clergy into ‘ours’ and ‘theirs’, gathered today to condemn the non-aligned bishops. This is how they respect and protect the church. What do you think, if tomorrow the ten became twenty, and the twenty became forty, would these people shy away from condemning and denigrating forty bishops? Of course not. Let me add, imagine the torrent of insults that would rain down on Ktrich’s head if he suddenly ceased his struggle against Nikol Pashinyan.

Those proclaiming an assault on the Mother See today themselves attacked the ten bishops located within the territory of the Mother See. This did not hinder their agenda today, but rather reaffirmed once again that it is they who have turned the church into a tool for political struggle. It is they who count the number of participants in the liturgy (and thus turn the church into a polling station), and it is they who want to keep as many clergymen obedient as possible. This is why they are terrorizing these ten, to scare the others as well, but they fail to see that they will not succeed in this.”
