Maduro Calls for Colombia to Unite with Venezuela
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has issued a message calling for Colombia and Venezuela to form a "perfect union" to counter external pressures, particularly the influence of the United States.
During a televised address, Maduro stated that the principle of "divide and conquer" has been employed by empires for centuries, aiming to split Colombia and Venezuela apart. He emphasized that this policy has continuously harmed the relationship between the two countries and regional stability.
The Venezuelan leader recalled the idea of the foundation of Great Colombia, highlighting that this historical project was born from republican values and the struggle for liberation. According to Maduro, nearly two centuries later, these ideas remain relevant for South America.
He noted that the unity of the peoples is the greatest guarantee for peace, stability, and international respect.
