Aviñan is my friend, but Alen Simonean is not. I will talk about it soon. Hayk Sargsyan
I see myself in the National Assembly; I have no ambition to hold any other position. Tigran Aviñan did not attend the session and was not against it; he is my friend, and if he were present, he would have voted in favor. This was stated by Hayk Sargsyan, a member of the National Assembly’s "Civil Contract" party, during a press briefing.
When asked if the administration provided justification for the rejection, Hayk Sargsyan replied, "No justification was presented to me; one of the board members conveyed the administration's position verbally."
Addressing his appeal, Sargsyan said that if he were offended, he wouldn't appeal; he would just go home. "I do not wish to betray my principles and the people who brought us to power. On April 22-23, 2018, when 100,000 people took to the streets, I was in detention, facing a threat of up to 8 years in prison. If the people had not risen up to fight, I would have been in captivity."
Regarding Tigran Aviñan, Sargsyan added that he considers him one of the best mayors of Yerevan, if not the best. When asked about his relationship with Alen Simonean, he stated that he is not a friend like Tigran Aviñan and responded that he would talk about it soon.
"I expect the administration to listen to me and make a new decision," Sargsyan added.
