Zangezur Corridor Could Open Doors for NATO Presence in Northern Iran, Says Ali Akbar
"Trump's Plan for the Caucasus is essentially the same as the Zangezur Corridor project; Tehran is completely against it," stated Ali Akbar Velayati, the advisor on international affairs to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, during a meeting with the Armenian Ambassador to Iran, Grigor Hakhobyan.
The Iranian official expressed that Iran has always been opposed to the Zangezur Corridor due to its rejection of any alteration to regional borders. Velayati asserted that, "the corridor could provide an opportunity for NATO's presence in northern Iran, posing serious security risks for northern Iran and southern Russia."
