Trump Files Lawsuit Against BBC Demanding $10 Billion

U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against British broadcaster BBC, demanding $10 billion in damages. In the lawsuit, the President accuses the BBC of defamation as well as fraud.

The filing states that the BBC aired "false, defamatory, disparaging, inflammatory, and malicious material about President Trump." It has been characterized as a “clear attempt to interfere with and influence the 2024 U.S. presidential elections.”

Trump's side accuses the BBC of “editing” two completely separate parts of Trump’s speech from January 6, 2021, deliberately distorting the meaning of his words. The BBC apologized to Trump last month for the editing of the speech, but denied the allegations of defamation.

Additionally, in November of this year, BBC Director-General Tim Davie and BBC News head Deborah Turness resigned in light of the scandal surrounding the editing of Donald Trump’s speech in the Panorama program.
