Not Only Infuriating but Also Shameful for a Person in Uniform: Papikyan on Reports of Adversary Infiltration

During a session of the National Assembly, Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan addressed the remarks of MP Gegham Nazaryan, who pointed out that yet another false information regarding Armenia's defense situation had been disseminated in the media. Papikyan noted that this is one of those cases where the issue is not only about events occurring at the border, but is essentially a hybrid attack.

According to Gegham Vazaryan, the time has come to legally regulate the publication of information about the border line and the army, as well as to establish that the media can only disseminate information after an announcement by the Ministry of Defense.

“The possible legal regulation, which pertains not only to our sector but also generally relates to similar attacks, should be addressed by the National Assembly, possibly with proposals from the Government. This is truly a serious challenge to state security. What is happening is not only infuriating but also shameful for a person in uniform,” the minister stated.

It is worth mentioning that earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia responded to disinformation spread by former military serviceman Naira Gevorgyan, claiming that there had allegedly been an infiltration attempt by the adversary in the direction of Meghri.
