Azerbaijan and Turkey Will Assist Each Other in Case of Armed Aggression
The purpose of the memorandum signed between the defense ministries of Azerbaijan and Turkey is to strengthen cooperation in the field of defense, ensuring the security and territorial integrity of their states, as well as protecting sovereignty and independence. This was announced by Arzu Nagiev, the chairman of the National Assembly’s Defense, Security, and Anti-Corruption Committee.
According to him, the document serves Azerbaijan and Turkey's strategic partnership. "The aim of the memorandum is to enhance mutual coordination in the field of military security, develop joint exercises, military education, and collaboration in the defense industry. The document consists of eight points.
Under the agreement, the signatory parties commit to providing mutual assistance in the event of armed aggression against either one of them, in order to exercise the right to individual and collective self-defense recognized by Article 51 of the UN Charter,” the parliamentarian stated.
It was also noted that the parties provide military assistance at the request of either party in accordance with the procedures established by their national legislation.
