Armenian Ambassador to Russia Appeals to Administrative Court Against Police Ministry
The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Armenia to the Russian Federation, Gurgen Arsenyan, has filed a complaint with the Administrative Court of the Republic of Armenia, contesting the actions of the Armenian Police Ministry regarding the restrictions on the legal ownership of firearms belonging to him. This was reported by the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper.
In the lawsuit submitted to the court, the ambassador demands that the Armenian Police Ministry refrain from confiscating, seizing, or damaging his firearms, which include a 'WALTHER' (P-22, N G 002448, made in Germany), a 'BERETTA-92' model (9×19 mm, A142740Z), and a 'GLOCK 42' model (9×17 mm, AFAB987).
According to information obtained by the newspaper, the Police Ministry has recently been gradually reviewing the documentation for firearms owned by citizens and has even been demanding the surrender of legally acquired arms, subjecting them to technical damage to render them unusable. This process affects not only ordinary citizens but also individuals holding high state positions.
In Gurgen Arsenyan’s case, this involves firearms that he has legally owned for years and keeps as souvenirs, which he wishes to maintain in their original, factory condition without technical intervention. This issue has become the focal point of the legal dispute.
