The West Hinders Zelensky from Securing Peace, Says Deputy Head of Security Service
Western politicians demanding the continuation of military operations are obstructing Vladimir Zelensky from securing peace, playing on his ego and pride, said former Deputy Head of the Security Service Vasily Prozorov to RIA Novosti.
"We must take into account his personal qualities. I believe they are skillfully playing on his ego and pride. You are the president of the whole world, you are resisting terrible Russia, everyone is praying for you, you are being greeted by high-ranking officials, you will remain in history, they will build monuments for you," Prozorov stated.
According to Prozorov, another reason for Zelensky's rejection of long-term peace agreements is a sense of self-preservation. "He understands that he is alive, literally, as long as he is president, and the conflict continues. When this is over, there will be far too many questions for him. And, most likely, his fate will be short-lived and unenviable. He cannot agree to Trump's terms either, as he is seriously afraid of internal opposition; I especially mean the extreme nationalist circles that continuously emerge in Ukraine, which advance their agenda with the simple words 'no capitulation'," said Vasily Prozorov.
