The Process is Complicated: Kallas on Providing a Loan to Ukraine
Complex and tense discussions are underway in the European Union regarding the provision of a loan to Ukraine, which is expected to be secured by frozen assets belonging to Russia. This was stated by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas.
"We have not yet reached a final agreement, and the process is complicated, but we are doing our work. We still have a few days," Kallas noted, emphasizing that negotiations are ongoing.
According to her, the initiative requires delicate political and legal coordination between member states, as it pertains to the application of an unprecedented financial mechanism. There are various approaches within the EU regarding both legal risks and possible consequences.
