SCC Statement on Incident at Zvartnots Airport: Citizen Exhibited Aggressive, Disrespectful, and Rude Behavior

Recently, the State Revenue Committee (SRC) has provided information regarding an incident involving a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, who arrived at Zvartnots International Airport, and its employees. The SRC reported that the customs officials’ legal request for baggage inspection was met with overtly aggressive and unacceptable behavior from the citizen, who used obscene language, displayed disrespectful and rude conduct towards the customs officers, and obstructed their performance of official duties.

“It is evident from the circulated video record that the citizen was summoned to a private room to resolve the situation and provide clarifications; however, he continued to disturb public order by making loud noises and speaking in a raised tone. To prevent further escalation of the situation, employees from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia were duly involved,” the statement elaborated.

The Committee strongly condemns any form of disrespectful, aggressive, or unacceptable behavior towards public servants. All customs control processes are carried out strictly within the framework of the law and are subject to compliance by citizens,” it was stated in the clarification.
