Paruir Sevak Museum Initiates Survey Regarding Sculpture Removal
The Paruir Sevak Museum has issued a statement concerning the controversy surrounding the sculpture "Paruir Sevak: The Silent Bell Tower" by People’s Artist Levon Tokmajyan, which was recently installed in the yard of the Zangakatun Secondary School.
“Dear residents of Zangakatun community, you are undoubtedly aware that the sculpture by L. Tokmajyan, recently placed in the school yard, has sparked a wave of public discontent across social media. Unfortunately, during this period, apart from positive or negative opinions, there have also been insulting remarks directed at the village residents, particularly the students. The Paruir Sevak Museum considers this completely unacceptable. While it is certainly always possible to express one's opinions, insulting people is intolerable, and those who do so cannot in any way claim to embody the spiritual messages of P. Sevak.
Nevertheless, considering the public outrage and the fact that the opinions of our fellow villagers are extremely important to the museum, we kindly ask you to participate in the following survey: DO YOU AGREE THAT THE SCULPTURE SHOULD BE REMOVED?” According to the statement, currently, 82% of survey participants support the removal of the sculpture, while 18% oppose it.
