Merz Calls on Russia for Ceasefire

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has called on Russia to declare a ceasefire for the Christmas holidays. “The ball is in Russia’s court. Moscow would take a significant step if it were to stop the bombardments on the eve of Christmas, on the night of December 25,” the politician stated.

He added, “This could mark the beginning of peace.”

It is noteworthy that on December 15, Reuters reported that the United States believes that approximately 90% of unresolved issues related to the conflict resolution between Russia and Ukraine have already been addressed. According to the media outlet, the White House deemed the meetings held on December 14-15 in Berlin between representatives of the United States and Ukraine as “truly positive,” and U.S. President Donald Trump was pleased with the situation.
