Zelensky Announces Start of Talks with American Delegation in Berlin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced the start of a meeting in Berlin with the American delegation led by U.S. special envoy Steve Biegun. He made the announcement on his Telegram channel.

“We have started the meeting,” Zelensky wrote, attaching photos from the meeting where he welcomed Biegun, as well as Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of the U.S. president. Also present at the meeting was German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who sat at the negotiating table next to the Ukrainian delegation.

Today, Zelensky arrived in Berlin. Before the meeting with Biegun, he expressed hope that Ukraine's partners would “work constructively” to provide reliable guarantees to Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian leader, Kyiv has yet to receive a response from the American side regarding changes to U.S. President Donald Trump's peace plan, which were agreed upon with European partners.

As reported by The Financial Times, the Trump administration aims to obtain Ukraine's response to Washington's proposed peace plan by Christmas.

Earlier, Zelensky highlighted what kind of peace is necessary for Ukraine.
