Putin Drives and Enjoys It, Says Peskov
Russian President Vladimir Putin drives and enjoys doing so. This was stated by the president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov to VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.
"He drives and enjoys doing it," Peskov noted, commenting on Putin's remarks during a meeting of the Human Rights Council, where he mentioned that he does not always move around the city with "lights and sirens" and sometimes travels "quietly" without a convoy.
The Kremlin representative clarified that the president's expression of "quietly" moving around the city means "like everyone else." However, when asked whether ordinary drivers might get a glimpse of the president while turning around, Peskov said, "It’s unlikely to see him."
Putin is an experienced driver with over 50 years of driving experience. During this time, he has driven various cars including the "Zaporozhets," his first vehicle, the "Zhiguli," and the "Volga," as well as new models from domestic manufacturers—three different Ladas (Kalina, Vesta, Aura) and Aurus. He is skilled at driving not just light vehicles; during the opening of the Crimean bridge, he was at the wheel of a "Kamaz."
