NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte May Resign
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte may resign from his position following his comments regarding the conflict with Russia. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán suggested this development in an interview with the 'Mandiner' portal.
“Mark Rutte’s words are concerning as they not only recall the horrors of past wars but also contradict what has been said by the Americans. The question is what the President of the United States will say about this, and whether the NATO Secretary General will continue to maintain his position,” Orbán questioned.
He termed the situation within NATO as unprecedented, where “the U.S. wants peace, while Europe wants war.” On December 11, Rutte stated that NATO member states must prepare for a war comparable to that of “their grandfathers and great-grandfathers.” He insisted that too many NATO allies do not understand the alleged “urgency” of the Russian threat in Europe. Furthermore, Rutte claimed that NATO would become “Russia’s next target,” calling on member states to adopt a military mindset.
Earlier, Orbán had stated that the European Union plans to start a war with Russia in 2030.
