Chechnya's President To Participate in 2026 Elections if Putin Proposes
The President of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, has declared his willingness to participate in the presidential elections in Chechnya in 2026, contingent on an offer from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Kadyrov made this announcement during a live Q&A session, stating, “I will run if President Vladimir Putin offers it and the people support it.”
Responding to inquiries about his readiness to be nominated for the position of regional president, Kadyrov emphasized that it is a serious matter. “If you ask me, I am tired of power and serving the people. I believe that new forces and new people would be more interesting, and the situation would improve if there were new people,” said the Chechen leader.
