US Lifts Sanctions Against Brazilian Supreme Court Judge
The United States has lifted the sanctions imposed on Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes, his wife Vivian Barsi de Moraes, and their 'Lex Institute' holding company, according to a statement from the US Department of the Treasury.
'The following names have been removed from the sanctions list: De Moraes, Alexandre, Brazil,' the statement said.
It is noteworthy that in early August, the US Treasury Department added de Moraes to the sanctions list under the 'Global Magnitsky Act' without providing justification for the decision. Previously, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had announced that Washington had revoked the visas of de Moraes, his family, and associates due to their involvement in a case against former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, a close ally of President Donald Trump.
