Armenian Prisoners Speak Out in Baku Court Proceedings
The first part of the final phase of the trial of Armenian prisoners in Baku has taken place. Azerbaijani media outlets did not publish the statements of the Armenian prisoners, only reporting what the lawyers said, who "requested" the acquittal of the "accused." It has been noted that several prisoners presented their final statements.
Davit Manukyan, Levon Balayan, Madat Babayan, Garik Martirosyan, Melikset Pashayan, Davit Alaverdyan, Gurgen Stepanyan, Erik Ghazaryan, and Vasili Beglaryan all declared that they had committed no crimes.
The interrupted session will continue on December 19. It is noteworthy that the trial regarding the former military-political leaders of Artsakh has been ongoing in Azerbaijan since January 17. Among the accused are former presidents Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Arayik Harutyunyan, former commander of the defense army Levon Mnatsakanyan, former foreign minister Davit Babayan, and others.
