Alexandr Kochubaev's Preventive Measure Canceled, Lawyer Says

The preventive measure against lawyer Alexandr Kochubaev, which involved a ban on leaving, has been lifted. This was reported by lawyer Erik Aleksanyan.

"No type of preventive measure has been applied against him," the lawyer stated.

It is worth noting that lawyer Alexandr Kochubaev was detained on October 16, near the Shengavit court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan, following a court session in the case of Bishop Bagrat and others. The reason for the lawyer's arrest was a Facebook post in which he harshly criticized law enforcement for the detention of Mkrtich Srabzanyan.

A criminal prosecution had been initiated against Kochubaev under part 2 of Article 490 of the Criminal Code (disseminating information that defames a judge, prosecutor, or investigator, and causing harm to the rights and lawful interests of these individuals related to their lawful official or professional activities).

Additionally, on October 17, the court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan, presided over by Judge Masis Melkonyan, issued a decision to arrest Kochubaev for two months. The preventive measure against the lawyer was changed on October 28.
