The West Awaits the Unblocking of These Routes: Papoyan
The Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, has stated that the West is interested in establishing peace in the region and unblocking routes, which makes Armenia more appealing for international projects.
In a press briefing with journalists, Papoyan added that the main theme of the meetings led by the Prime Minister's delegation with the President and Chancellor of Germany was the economy. “In both Berlin, when we met with the Eastern Business Committee of Germany, and in Hamburg, when we met with a group of businessmen, everyone was interested in when the Armenia-Turkey border will open, when the Armenia-Azerbaijan border will open, because there are numerous projects in Europe related to Central Asia and China. The logic of these projects is that all these goods must come and transit through the middle corridor. One route, if it is Azerbaijan-Georgia-Black Sea, the other route (to quote them) they see is Azerbaijan-Armenia-Turkey-Mediterranean Sea or through Turkey to Europe. From this perspective, I want to emphasize that we have had very important discussions and discussed various projects, including the possibilities for transporting green hydrogen, because they are currently implementing very large projects in that context. All of this is related to the ‘Peace Nexus,’ TRIPP, and the possibility of unblocking routes. I must note that the West is similarly awaiting the unblocking of these routes,” said Gevorg Papoyan, the Minister of Economy.
