Putin Makes Important Statement: Comments on Europe

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the Chairman of the Constitutional Court Valery Zorkin to discuss the politicization of European judicial mechanisms.

The Chairman of the Constitutional Court reminded at the beginning of the discussion that Russia has suspended its participation in a number of European legal entities, including the European Court of Human Rights.

In response to this comment, Putin noted that there is an increasing politicization within the European judicial system. He recalled that the country exited the Council of Europe after the start of the special military operation and suspended the execution of European Court decisions that came into effect after March 15, 2022. He stated that bias and partial approaches are unacceptable in the judicial authority.

During the discussion, Putin also emphasized that Russian authorities are guided by the unconditional priority of the Constitution in all internal and foreign policy issues, which, according to him, remains the basis for state decision-making.
