Completion Date for Gyumri-Yerevan Road Construction Revealed
The Gyumri-Yerevan road, currently under construction, has resulted in drivers navigating several kilometers of traffic in the opposite lane. Auroranews.am sought clarification from the Road Department regarding the anticipated completion of this section of the construction.
"The construction in the section of the M-1 interstate road that you mentioned has not yet been completed. Currently, work is being carried out to install safety elements, which is crucial for ensuring traffic safety. The alternate route will be opened after the completion of all construction work. The completion is expected by the end of 2025," officials stated.
Additionally, the completion of the reconstruction of the local significance highway from the Yerevan border to segment km0+000-km1+100 (Korean Gorge) is scheduled for January 6, 2026, according to the contract. Meanwhile, a tender has been announced by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures for the installation of traffic lights in the area of Getargel-Arinj Mall, which has already taken place. The technical supervision tender previously failed several times, and now a procurement process has been initiated for technical supervision tasks from a single source. Everything is being done to install traffic lights as soon as possible," the department added.
