Armenia's Foreign Ministry Responds to Baku's Statement
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has responded to the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, claiming that the newly signed strategic partnership agenda between Armenia and the European Union contradicts the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
In a comment provided to Armenpress regarding Azerbaijan's statement, the press secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Ani Badalyan, stated: "Let us emphasize that the strategic agenda of the Armenia-EU partnership reflects the content of the bilateral and deepening cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, based on common values and mutual interests. It reflects not only the European aspirations of the citizens of Armenia but also the EU's commitment to support sovereignty, territorial integrity, democracy, and socio-economic resilience. It is clear that this itself only contributes to efforts aimed at further consolidating peace in the region.
I would like to add that the strategic agenda of the Armenia-EU partnership, around which the bilateral negotiations were essentially completed back in June, also includes our common vision for the future, which also reflects our shared commitment to strengthening stability, prosperity, and peace in the region.
It is noteworthy that on the same day, based on the results of the Council of the Armenia-EU Partnership, a joint statement was adopted, in which, in addition to the support expressed on other occasions, the EU welcomed the historic milestone achieved between Armenia and Azerbaijan during the Peace Summit held in Washington in August of this year, including the preliminary signing of the agreement on the establishment of peace and inter-state relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The EU reaffirmed its strong support for the further consolidation and institutionalization of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan," said Ani Badalyan, press secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
