Armenia's Exports to Germany Increase by Over 80%: Gevorg Papoyan
This year, Armenia has recorded an over 80% increase in export volumes to Germany. This growth has been driven by various economic sectors, including manufacturing, raw materials production, and more.
During a conversation with reporters in Germany, Gevorg Papoyan, the Minister of Economy of Armenia, who is part of the Armenian Prime Minister’s delegation, noted that the government is taking concrete steps to enhance these efforts.
“Last year, the government made a decision that if manufactured products from the processing industry are produced in Armenia and exported to Germany and European countries, the state will reimburse the customs duties. Why did we do this? So that Armenian textile products, Armenian brandy, our wines, our aluminum are competitive in European markets,” said Papoyan.
Regarding his upcoming visit to Moscow, Minister Papoyan mentioned that this visit does not contradict his trip to Germany. “We are a crossroads. We position ourselves as a peace crossroads. This is about our balancing policy, which aims to have good relations with the European Union, the Russian Federation, and countries in the Middle East,” Papoyan emphasized, noting that Armenia also has a growing trade volume with the United Arab Emirates.
According to the minister, Armenia's path towards Europe will ultimately be successful. He stressed that along this path, Armenia's legislation and standards for production quality will improve, which will be a significant achievement.
“This is already a success, because it guarantees that we will be able to export goods and services to any country in the world. If we can export a product to Germany, it means we can export it to all countries of the world,” the minister added.
