Alen Simonian Does Not Exclude Possibility of Expanded Meetings Between Armenian and Azerbaijani MPs

The President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonian, has not ruled out the possibility of discussing the matter of expanded interactions between Armenian and Azerbaijani parliamentarians with his Azerbaijani counterpart. Simonian made this statement during a briefing held on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, addressing the potential for dialogue between the parliaments of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"We are constantly trying to utilize all international platforms for communication, and my counterpart in Azerbaijan is also positively inclined towards this framework of interaction. Although there has not yet been any discussion, I assume that there will be further exchanges between me and the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament during the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Union congress in Istanbul. We will continue to discuss the framework for having expanded communications among us and our deputies, based on our own decision, outside of any international context," Simonian said.
