Washington Knows How to Influence Ukraine Peace Negotiations: US Representative at NATO
US President Donald Trump understands what levers he can use to persuade Ukraine to sign a peace agreement, stated Matthew Whitaker, the US permanent representative to NATO.
At the same time, Whitaker agreed with the position of Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., noting that if there is no progress in reaching a peace agreement, the US may withdraw from its efforts to resolve the conflict.
"They may reach a point where President Trump concludes that there can be no deal, and at that point, he will withdraw from the process," he noted.
On December 7, Donald Trump Jr. announced at a forum in Doha that his father might halt relations with Kyiv. He indicated that corruption in Ukraine has long been an issue, causing dissatisfaction among his international partners.
