Arabkir Administrative District Officials Charged with Bribery

The Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia has initiated criminal proceedings based on operational and investigative measures taken against officials from the Arabkir administrative district in Yerevan.

According to the investigation, the chief specialist of the district head's staff and the head of the relevant subdivision demanded and received bribes in collusion with one another. They were aware that the lease agreements for the land occupied by garages in the same administrative district had expired, and they required bribes to reduce the actual rent amounts, facilitate the extension of these contracts, and submit applications to the relevant authorities on behalf of the garage owners.

The chief specialist has been charged under the first and third points of the second part of Article 435 of the RA Criminal Code and has been placed in custody. The head of the subdivision has also been charged under the same article, with a travel ban imposed and his official duties suspended. Additionally, the owner of the garages who provided the bribes has also been charged. The pre-trial investigation has concluded, and the case materials have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia with an accusatory conclusion.
