Renowned Plastic Surgeon Artavazd Sahakyan Passes Away

Artavazd Sahakyan, a distinguished plastic surgeon and honorary professor at Yerevan State Medical University, has passed away at the age of 72. This was announced by the rector of YSMU, Armen Muradyan, on his Facebook page.

“The loss is significant for the university family. Artavazd Sahakyan, the head of the plastic surgery and micro-surgery clinic at the ‘Heratsi’ hospital complex and chair of the plastic surgery department at YSMU, led a team that accomplished a series of complex and seemingly unbelievable surgeries through immense effort and mutual trust,” Muradyan stated.

Since 1984, the work of Sahakyan's team has been presented at professional gatherings in Russia, the USA, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, and several other countries. Patients have come not only from Yerevan and regions but also from various continents.

Known for performing exceptional interventions in the fields of plastic and micro-surgery, the surgeon conducted approximately 50,000 surgeries over the course of his long professional career,” wrote Muradyan.
