Large-Scale Modernization of the Entire Monitoring Network to Begin in 2026, Says Arpine Sargsyan

The seismic monitoring network of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Seismic Protection Territorial Service has been included in the global organization under the International Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan, who outlined the strategic and scientific advantages of this integration.

"This ensures a number of strategic and scientific benefits. It represents an important international assessment of Armenia's efforts. At the same time, it is also a predictable evaluation for us, as the Garni seismic station is the only international station in the region. Considering that Armenia is located in a seismically hazardous zone, the best way to protect against earthquakes is to ensure reliable monitoring of seismic hazards," the minister stated, adding that a large-scale modernization of the entire monitoring network will begin in 2026.
