EU Authorities Apply Unworkable Regulations on Tech Companies: Durov
Telegram founder Pavel Durov has stated that the EU authorities are applying unworkable regulations on technology companies. “The EU is implementing unworkable rules to punish those tech companies that refuse to silently restrict freedom of speech. We saw the same in France with baseless 'criminal investigations,' and then intelligence agencies offered their help if Telegram quietly censored speech in Romania and Moldova,” Durov wrote on platform X.
It is worth noting that one day earlier, European Commission spokesperson Thomas Renyen announced that EU authorities fined X 120 million euros for violating the 'Digital Services Act.' He clarified that the decision is not related to censorship or content moderation on the platform. Renyen explained that this is the first time a fine has been imposed under this law.
