Georgia Sets New Entry Requirements for Foreigners
Starting January 1, 2026, Georgia will implement updated regulations requiring all foreigners to have medical insurance upon entry. Without insurance, entry will incur a fine of 300 lari (approximately 42,320.46 dram), and in some cases, travelers may be denied entry.
The required policy must provide at least $5,000 in insurance for emergency outpatient assistance and a minimum of $30,000 in insurance for inpatient treatment, covering accidents, injuries, sudden illnesses, and potential medical evacuation. The insurance must be purchased at the time of entry and be valid for the entire duration of the stay in the country.
Border services are authorized to request documentation both at airports and at land border checkpoints.
