Zakharova Calls London’s Sanctions Against Russian General Staff Illegal

The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, has criticized the new sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom against the Main Directorate of the General Staff, deeming them illegal and baseless.

According to Zakharova, the restrictions affect both the agency and 11 individuals who, according to London, are associated with the organization. The diplomat emphasized that the UK has carried out this action based on 'fabricated justifications,' bypassing the UN Security Council.

She noted that such an approach contradicts the norms of international law and can in no way be accepted by Russia. Zakharova also pointed out that Moscow reserves the right to undertake retaliatory measures if deemed necessary.
