Samvel Shahramanyan Comments on Artsakh Diocese Leader's Meeting with Pashinyan

Samvel Shahramanyan, during a conversation with reporters, addressed the presence of the leader of the Artsakh Diocese, Vrtanes Surbazan, at the bishops' meeting organized by Nikol Pashinyan, stating that he does not wish to rush into comments. He noted that the most painful issue is the created opposition between the current authorities and the church, which, in his opinion, should not have been made public.

Shahramanyan emphasized that such matters should be resolved behind closed doors without involving the wider public. He added that they will wait for the church's decision before presenting their stance.

According to Shahramanyan, the following day he met with Vrtanes Surbazan and listened to his justifications. “There was one question that interested me—whether this meeting was coordinated with the Catholicos. I received a negative answer, based on which I made my conclusions,” he stated.
