Hrachya Hakobyan Explains Why He Will Not Run in Parliamentary Elections
Journalists asked Hrachya Hakobyan, a member of the ruling party’s faction in the National Assembly, why he decided not to be included in the proportional list of the CPP for the parliamentary elections in 2026.
“I simply did not want to run. There is no specific reason; I just want to take a little break from active politics. I am not leaving politics; I will be part of the party and I believe I will participate in party meetings, not so actively, but nonetheless, I will participate. However, I will not engage in very active politics,” he stated.
Hakobyan mentioned that he had discussed this decision with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. “Naturally, I had to inform him, and I did. He reacted very normally,” he added.
Regarding his participation in the upcoming campaign, Hakobyan said, “I will participate in the campaign. I am a member of the party, I will continue to be a member of the party, and I will participate in both the campaign and the party meetings.”
When asked what he will be doing next, he replied: “I haven't thought about it yet. It's the first time I'm hearing that I will be appointed as an ambassador. There has been no discussion related to my future work,” he said.
