Health Insurance System Crucial for Visa Liberalization, Yeghoyan

During the National Assembly session on December 2, Arman Yeghoyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, addressed concerns raised by the opposition regarding the implementation of a universal health insurance system. He noted that in the first year, they would be dealing with approximately 1.5 million people. According to him, no matter how much one tries to model the situation, it is impossible to accurately predict the expected queues or expenses.

The MP pointed out that any new system faces certain issues that cannot be completely prevented with 100% accuracy. 'It is necessary to assess the obvious, possible, and hypothetical damages. If there is no damage, we move forward,' Yeghoyan said, adding that issues related to the fund will be resolved in due course.

He urged his fellow MPs to vote in favor of the draft, emphasizing its importance in the visa liberalization process. Yeghoyan reminded that a week or two ago, Armenia was handed the action plan for visa liberalization, stating that the European side is closely monitoring the funds spent on asylum seekers citing health issues.

Yeghoyan added that most of the diseases covered by the health insurance system are those for which Armenian citizens apply for asylum in the EU.
