Netherlands Boosts Ukraine's Ammunition Supplies Through PURL Initiative
The Netherlands will provide an additional €250 million in military support to Ukraine through the PURL initiative, which allows European countries to acquire weapons from American stockpiles. This announcement was made by the Acting Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Ruben Brekelmans.
“Today I announce that €250 million is being allocated to Ukraine through PURL. This is the only way to provide more anti-aircraft ammunition in a very short time, as well as the necessary ammunition for F-16 fighters and other materials from U.S. stockpiles,” he stated in Brussels ahead of a meeting of EU defense ministers.
The PURL initiative was launched on July 14 by U.S. President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Through this mechanism, NATO allies purchase weapons for Ukraine from American stockpiles. Supplies under PURL are expected to be delivered every two to three weeks.
