I Will Not Terminate My Service: The Catholicos Cannot Be a Desertor – Archbishop Arshak

I am not going to apply to terminate my service just because some people want that. This was stated by Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan during a conversation with journalists.

“But there may come a time when I feel that terminating my service could be beneficial for conducting an objective investigation; it could help eliminate misunderstandings among people. If I am the one hindering an objective investigation of the issue, I am ready for any solution,” he said.

Archbishop Khachatryan also spoke about the intentions of bishops to remove the Catholicos: “The Catholicos has no opportunity to resign. The Catholicos is elected by the national-church assembly, and any decision outside of that assembly is desertion. The Catholicos cannot be a deserter,” added Archbishop Khachatryan.
